Five Offensive Rookies to Watch for the 2017 NFL Season

The NFL Draft has come and gone just like that. Some offenses really filled some holes and improved significantly. These rookies are going to make defensive coordinators cringe. Based on the draft results, here are the top offensive rookies to watch for the 2017 NFL season.

Five Offensive Rookies to Watch for the 2017 NFL Season

5 Christian McCaffery RB, CAR

McCaffery is easily a four down back. He has great vision and great patience as a runner. McCafferey does it all, as he has excellent hands out of the backfield and can be used out of the slot. Despite his average size and speed, the Stanford product will prove to be a perfect weapon for Cam Newton and this Carolina Panther offense.

4 Evan Engram TE, NYG

Evan Engram was a bit of a reach for the Giants, but was a great pick. Engram is a matchup nightmare for defenses. He is a No.4 receiver with the size to play tight-end. Engram has some plus speed and tons of athletic ability. Evan Engram has drawn comparison to Jordan Reed, just Engram is faster. With the Giants offense as dangerous as it is, Engram only gives Eli Manning yet another playmaker.

3 Leonard Fournette RB, JAX

Fournette is a back with a blend of size, speed, and power. He’s built like a linebacker, but has speed like a receiver. He plows through defenders and has a punishing stiff arm. T.J. Yelled nan Chris Ivory are decent options in Jacksonville, however Fournette should take over before long. With Blake Bortles struggling at the QB position, Jacksonville should look to run the ball more next season creating more and more opportunities for Leonard Fournette.

2 O.J. Howard TE, TB

O.J. Howard is the most NFL read tight-end in this draft. Howard will likely start not Cameron Brate’s starting role right away. He has some tremendous playmaking ability. Howard is the type of tight-end NFL teams dream of. He was underutilized at Alabama, but in an offense with Jameis Winston at QB and Mike Evans and Desean Jackson on the outside, Howard will see plenty of opportunities.

1 John Ross WR, CIN

WR was not a need of the Bengals, however John Ross was an excellent pick. He is a tremendous complement to A.J. Green in that offense. Green has tremendous size and speed, and Ross has tremendous speed. Ross will likely end up seeing one-on-one coverage. His speed makes him just a big play waiting to happen. Bengals QB Andy Dalton must’ve been salivating when he heard about this pick.
