Three College Football Teams On Verge Of Collapse After Week 2

Every week in college football, there are always teams that disappoint massively. Just like always, week 2 was no exception. From ranked teams losing to just disappointing performances overall, there are some teams on the verge of a potential collapse after week 2.

Underwhelming Performances From College Football Week 2

Florida Gators with Loss Severely Risk Bowl Eligibility

An upset is always a bad thing. However, losing as the No. 13 team in the country against the USF Bulls is another thing. The Bulls have already defeated the formerly ranked Boise State Broncos convincingly, but for Florida, this doesn’t matter. According to almost all analysts, Florida must play the hardest schedule not just in the SEC, but also in the country. There are much harder games in the future for the Gators…

Of the final 11 teams, nine are ranked in the top 25, including four that are in the top seven or higher. For the Gators, this means there is a chance of a horrible season, possibly even missing out on a bowl game. Sure, the Gators will still be seen as a good team potentially and maybe they can right the ship, but for now, a collapse and a firing of Billy Napier seems all too likely after an embarrassing defeat in the swamp.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys Don’t Look Bad… They look Horrible

Last season, the Oklahoma State Cowboys began the year 3-0 and in the top ten. Then, the Cowboys would go on to lose a close one against the ranked Utah Utes. Then, things wouldn’t get better from there for the Cowboys, as OSU ended the season 3-9 and in embarrassing fashion. The Cowboys began this season with a win over the University of Texas Martin Skyhawks, giving some hope of a turnaround.

However, in a stunning blowout, the Cowboys managed to make the Montana State Bobcats look good with a 69-3 walloping. For Oklahoma State, this simply means this season is bound to be an uneventful and bad one for the Cowboys. Sure, bowl eligibility, among other things, is still possible for Oklahoma State. However, as time moves on, the Cowboys look like one of the most disgusting teams in the country – they’ve been destroyed completely and utterly from what they were.

The Kansas State Wildcats- Yikes…

After one not-so-bad loss to the ranked Iowa State Cyclones, the Avery Johnson led Kansas State Wildcats followed up their loss with a very unimpressive victory over the North Dakota Warhawks. Things couldn’t get much worse for them after that, well, unless you count losing to the Army Black Knights.

Not that Army isn’t very good, it just that- well, Army isn’t very good. Army lost to Tarleton State to open the season, not to mention the team is incredibly easy to defend against because they run so often. Yet, the formerly ranked Wildcats found a way to lose again, and look very evidently ready for a collapse. With a game that almost should’ve been a loss against North Dakota and an embarrassing game against Army, for KSU fans, this season is about to get Rated TV Mature. It could be a horror movie for many Wild Cat fans for the rest of the way.

Overall, every team loses in very unimpressive ways. However, with these losses, these teams bring a whole different definition to losing. These are the types of losses that can completely derail seasons and dynasties. Several of these teams not to mention have been ranked in the recent past, adding to the hurt of being embarrassed at home or on the road. Really, this is what the CFB season is all about, surprises, and very, very disappointing losses- at least for the teams that lost. Other teams will seek to improve and use theses teams as examples of what not to do.
