Lamar Jackson, quarterback, is a early favorite for 2025-26 MVP.

Projecting The NFL’s Top-10 Quarterbacks For The 2025 Season

The 2025 NFL regular season is a couple of months away, but it’s never too early to project who the top ten quarterbacks will be this season. Last season, we had surprise seasons from players like Sam Darnold and rookies such as Jayden Daniels, who both played like top-ten quarterbacks last season. The NFL’s elite will always be among the top and then there are toss-ups behind the big four. This list isn’t about who the top ten most talented quarterbacks are or most accomplished, but simply about which ten quarterbacks could have the best respective seasons in 2025.

Projecting The NFL’s 10 Best Quarterbacks of the 2025 Season

10. Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

2024 stats: 4,500 passing yards-41TDS-16INTS; 378 rushing yards-3TDS

Mayfield has been one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the last couple of seasons. In 2024, Mayfield was tied for second in touchdown passes and was third in passing yards, helping Tampa Bay win its second division crown with him under center.

In 2025, Mayfield will arguably have the best wide receiving corps in the league with Chris Godwin and Mike Evans. They also drafted Emeka Egbuka out of Ohio State University and have a second-year impact receiver in Jalen McMillian. It shouldn’t come as a surprise if Mayfield is once again among the league leaders in statistics.

9. Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars

2024 stats: 2,045 passing yards-11TDS-7INTS; 119 rushing yards-3TDS

The former No. 1 pick of the 2021 NFL draft hasn’t quite lived up to his status. However, things could change in 2025. Lawrence will be on his third head coach in five years, but this could also be his best coach. Liam Coen was hired as the new head coach of the Jags, who had coached one of the best offenses in the league last season with Baker Mayfield. Lawrence will also need to stay have after having injury riddled seasons the last two years.

The Jags made one of the biggest moves of the offseason, trading up to two in the NFL draft to take Travis Hunter, the hybrid WR/CB, paired with breakout rookie Brian Thomas Jr. in Coen’s scheme, could be fireworks. We could finally see Lawrence reach his true potential in 2025.

8. Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers

2024 Stats: 3,870 passing yards-23TDS-3INTS; 306 rushing yards-3TDS

Year two under Jim Harbaugh should do wonders for Herbert. Last season, in Herbert’s first year under Harbaugh, he threw only three interceptions. Herbert has always been wildly talented and The Chargers have a legit shot to challenge the Kansas City Chiefs for the AFC West division crown.

With Ladd McConkey, Mike Williams, Quentin Johnston and draftee Tre Harris Herbert should have another strong season.

7. C.J. Stroud, Houston Texans

2024 Stats: 3,727 passing yards-20TDS-12INTS

The 2023 Offensive Rookie of the Year took a slight step back in 2024; however, a lot of it was out of his control. Stroud statistically had one of the worst offensive lines in the league and multiple injuries to his playmakers, including numerous games missed by Nico Collins, an ACL tear to Stefon Diggs, and a devastating knee injury to Tank Dell. However, Stroud was still able to lead the Texans to another playoff win in 2024 and a division title.

The Texans restocked their playmaking corps for 2025, adding Christian Kirk and drafting Iowa State University teammates Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel. Expect a bounce-back season from Stroud.

6. Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams

2024 Stats: 3,762 passing yards-20TDS-8INTS

The old gunslinger out west will be entering his 17th year in the NFL and is still playing quarterback at a high level. Stafford led the Rams to the NFC Divisional round last season in a game they lost to the eventual Super Bowl champions. This offseason, the Rams added Davante Adams and still have one of the league’s top receivers in Puka Nacua

This season, the Rams’ team is reminiscent of their 2021 Super Bowl team, in which Stafford passed for 4,886 yards and 41 touchdowns. Stafford still has one of the NFL’s best arms at 37 and will be among the top quarterbacks this season.

5. Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders

2024 Stats: 3,568 passing yards-25TDS-9INTS; 891 Rushing Yards-6TDS

Daniels set the NFL world on fire last season with the best rookie season in the modern NFL for a quarterback. Daniels, by most metrics, was a top-five quarterback in the NFL last season as a rookie.

Even if he just duplicated his rookie season, it would still make him one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Daniels will firmly be in the MVP conversation this season.

4. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

2024 stats: 3,928 passing yards-26TDS-9INTS

Yes, Patrick Mahomes is the best quarterback in the NFL. He has the best resume of any quarterback in the NFL right now; however, statistically, his last couple of regular seasons have been underwhelming for someone of Mahomes Caliber.

He finished with 11 interceptions and was 22nd in passer rating. You can never count out Mahomes, and he could easily flip the switch and turn back to MVP form in 2025.

3. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals

2024 stats: 4,918 passing yards-43 passing touchdowns-9 interceptions

Joe Burrow put on a masterclass last season at the quarterback position. He finished the season leading the league in passing yards and passing touchdowns. Burrow has two of the NFL’s premier wide receivers, Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, to throw to, and an iffy defense is on the other side. With the defense potentially being underwhelming again in 2025, it will give Burrow a chance to throw on the Superman cape once again.

The Bengals have missed the playoffs the last two seasons, and I believe Burrow will give it his all to keep that from being a third consecutive season. That could lead to Burrow winning his first MVP.

2. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills

2024 stats: 3, 731 passing yards-28 passing touchdowns-6 interceptions; 531 rushing yards-12 touchdowns

The reigning NFL MVP is always among the top three quarterbacks in the league. For his MVP season last year, he finished with 3,731 passing yards to go along with 40 total touchdowns and six interceptions. Simply put, Allen is an offense among himself, which is evident by the five consecutive seasons he has had of 40+ touchdowns.

He won the MVP in 2024 but finished in the top five for the 2023 and 2022 seasons.

1. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens

2024 stats: 4,172 passing yards-41TDS-4INTS; 915 rushing yards-4TDS

Lamar Jackson is coming off of what is considered his best statistical season of his career. He was the first player ever to record over 4,00 passing yards and over 800 rushing yards in a single season. He was the second quarterback ever to pass for 40+ touchdowns and five or fewer interceptions, and also had the second highest passer rating in NFL history with 121.6. Jackson had an All-Time regular season in 2024.

Jackson could be next year’s top quarterback in the NFL regular season, and no one would be surprised. He returns everyone from his 2024 offense and even added another playmaker in DeAndre Hopkins. Jackson has been one of the best regular-season quarterbacks of all time, as evidenced by his two MVPs.
