Jason Robertson celebrates

The 3 Most Underrated Players in the NHL

The NHL is full of superstar players who receive plenty of attention, but some of the league’s most talented players still fly under the radar. Several players quietly make a huge difference for their teams. These underrated stars bring impressive scoring ability, consistency, creativity and leadership every time they step onto the ice.

From dangerous offensive wingers to complete two-way forwards, their contributions deserve greater recognition. Here are three of the most underrated players in the NHL, starting with Dallas Stars forward Jason Robertson, who continues to prove his value.

The NHL’s Most Underrated Players

1. Jason Robertson

Robertson is one of the most underrated offensive players in the NHL. The Dallas Stars winger has consistently demonstrated his ability to produce goals and assists while playing an important role in his team’s success. During the 2025-26 regular season, Robertson recorded an impressive 45 goals and 51 assists for 96 points in 82 games. His excellent finishing ability, hockey intelligence, and creativity make him a dangerous opponent for any defense.

What makes Robertson particularly special is his ability to find scoring opportunities in difficult situations and deliver when his team needs him most. Despite his outstanding production, he does not always receive the same attention as other elite NHL forwards.

At just 27 years old, Robertson remains an important part of Dallas’ championship ambitions. His consistency and offensive talent make him a player who deserves much more recognition across the league.

2. Logan Cooley

Logan Cooley is definitely one of the most underrated players in the NHL; he is only 22 years old. Cooley scored 24 goals last season in 54 games; with injuries playing a role in his missed games.

Jack Hughes was quoted saying “I think Cooley’s probably pretty underrated. Maybe not the most underrated, but a guy I like watching and I think is going to be a really good player. He’s probably going to get a lot of love in the next few years”

Cooley so far this season has four goals. He is still a very young player, so he can definitely progress into a star for the Utah Mammoth. He was drafted in 2022, 3rd overall, by Arizona. The Mammoth like to grow their young players into superstars; I think he is a player that will be a part of their future.

3. Seth Jarvis

Seth Jarvis is a star forward for the Carolina Hurricanes. He is averaging 30 goals each season for the last three seasons. Jarvis had a great postseason last year with four goals, and he won the Stanley Cup.

Jarvis deserves more respect, as he is definitely one of the most underrated players in the NHL. He is a player that focuses on scoring and winning games. So far this season, Jarvis has only played in three games because of injury, scoring one goal. He will still find a way to get 30 goals this season.

Jarvis, who plays alongside Sebastian Aho, is one of the best duos in the NHL. With the team that the Hurricanes have, they have a chance to win back-to-back Stanley Cups.
