Shriners Hospitals for Children fourth-round from TPC Summerlin, in Las Vegas

This $7 million event dates back to 1983 and was the sight of the first PGA Tour victory for Tiger Woods, in 1996. The winner of the 2021 Shriners Children’s Open in Las Vegas will collect $1.26 million from a total purse of $7 million. Lanto Griffin turns heads as he climbs his way into the top nine on the leaderboard. Adam Schenk leads the way at -18 through three rounds of play.

Shriners Hospitals for Children Fourth Round

Fan Favorite Lanto Griffin

Lanto Griffin finished 1-over-par in the first round. Griffin felt as it was over for himself. It seemed there was no chance for the American, Lanto Griffin to contend for the Shriners Children’s Open. “I felt like I played great and shooting 1 over out here is like, you’re done, like there’s no way to come back from that.”, Griffin said after the 1st round.

Since the terrible start, Griffin has pushed through the 2nd and 3rd rounds with very strong performances. With scores of 72-64-64, Griffin is currently five strokes back from the lead, sitting at -13. “We were walking off and my caddie was like it could have been 59 today pretty easy,” Griffin said after the third round. Griffin is climbing the leaderboard and could threaten Adam Schenk to take the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

Easy to feel overwhelmed when trying to reverse your mindset. Getting eagles and birdies consistently to get back up the leaderboard is not needed. Complete one small task with confidence and focus. Griffin’s self-confidence is back after the rough start, and if he can keep focus, Griffin still has a shot!

Projected Winner – Adam Schenk

The clear-cut favorite to win the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open is Adam Schenk. Watching Schenk chip the ball several feet from the hole on a windy day is satisfying. Easy to see why he is the front-runner heading into the final round of play. As long as Schenk plays conservatively, he should win with ease.

A fantastic organization, the Shriners Hospital for Children, has provided invaluable resources for families in need of quality healthcare. Thankfully, the event has become a great stop for some of the game’s best players.
