With a 9-2 record, current six-game winning streak, best odds to win the Super Bowl, and the top seed in the NFC, the Los Angeles Rams are currently separating themselves as the NFL’s best team.
LA Rams Has Been The NFL’s Best Team In 2025
As we head into the final stretch of the 2025 regular season, one team is continuing to separate itself from the rest, and that’s the Los Angeles Rams. In a year where everything seems wide open in both the AFC and the NFC, the Rams have shown that their consistency, mixed with their talent and coaching staff, has been key.
The Rams’ two losses this season came on a blocked game-winning field goal against the Eagles and an overtime loss to the 49ers on Thursday night football, in a game where the Rams fumbled on the one-yard line, a touchdown likely would have won them the game. There is a case to be made that LA should have been undefeated if it weren’t for self-inflicted mistakes earlier in the season.
Sean McVay has been one of the best NFL coaches since his hiring in 2017, and Matthew Stafford appears to be playing his best football in the 17th year of his career. It’s not just the offense; the Rams’ defense is also among the league’s best, thanks to defense coordinator Chris Shula, and the Rams rank highly in both offensive and defensive statistics.
Rams Offensive/Defensive Rankings
Off Points per game: 27.8 (6th), Total DVOA (1st), Def PPG allowed: 16.3 (1st)
The Rams offense and defense rank highly in common counting stats and advanced stats. The Rams’ defense now allows the fewest points per game and is in the top two in total points allowed for the season, and is also second in takeaways per game. Shula has done a magnificent job coaching the defense.
The Defense Adjusted Value Over Average (DVOA) ranks the Rams as the best team in the NFL. Every Sunday you tune in to watch the Rams play, you can see that they are one of the best teams in the league.
Offensively, the Rams are as versatile as any team in the league. LA has been primarily known for being an 11-personnel team, meaning it features three wide receivers, one tight end, and a running back. However, they have started to incorporate more 12- and 13-personnel formations into their offense, meaning more tight ends on the field and fewer true wide receivers, and have found success with whatever personnel they use.
Playmakers Puka Nacua, Davante Adams, and Kyren Williams rank highly in the league in individual statistics as well. Nacua is currently in the top three in receiving yards with 947, and Adams currently leads receivers in touchdown passes with 12. Williams ranks in the top ten in rushing yards
Matthew Stafford is playing like the MVP of the 2025 season
Stafford’s stats; Passing yards 2,830 (5th); Touchdowns—30 (1st)—INT—2
Stafford has arguably been the best quarterback in the NFL in 2025. He has 30 touchdowns to only two interceptions. He has also thrown 27 straight touchdown passes with an interception, which is the longest streak since 1978.
The veteran is currently the odds-on favorite to win MVP on multiple sportsbooks, and if the Rams can keep their momentum going, Stafford could win his first MVP honor. A Recent poll by NFL execs on MVP had Stafford first on their ballot.
What’s crazy about Stafford’s season is that he missed all of training camp due to a severe back issue. And back in the offseason, he and the Rams seriously considered going their separate ways due to a contract issue.
With Stafford dealing and McVay dialing up the plays, the Rams will continue to separate themselves as the best team in the NFL.
