Notable Stars Still Without a Home Run So Far This Season

About 26 games into the season, some might expect for some MLB superstars to have at least 4-5 home runs. However, some, don’t even have one. As the season continues, that remains something to keep an eye on, as of course, homers are really critical to an offense that is effective.

Notable Stars Without a Home Run in 2026

Bobby Witt Jr., Kansas City Royals

Bobby Witt Jr. is an interesting case so far this season, mainly because he has continued to be a big bat for the Kansas City Royals in terms of batting average, as he has a good .283 average. He probably will find some power at some point, however, the claim that he is the best shortstop in baseball might be a bit bold unless Witt shows more power.

Witt Jr. had two 30 homer seasons back-to-back in 2023 and 2024, however, last season, he hit just 23 and now has none. That doesn’t take away the fact that he is amazing and had a stunning 9.4 WAR and a 7.1 WAR last season. However, power is important, and hopefully he can find some soon.

Fernando Tatis Jr.

Unfortunately for Fernando Tatis Jr., he has actually been pretty unlucky this season. However, even with that, no home runs is pretty concerning, especially since he has hit only 25, 21, and 25 in the last three seasons since hitting 42 in 2021 and also having some, ahem, problems with that 2021 season as well. To be fair, those 21 shots in 2024 did come in just 105 games, but the San Diego Padres would love to see their star do more in terms of power.

Other Notable Players:

Lane Thomas, Kansas City Royals: Thomas was an interesting pickup for the Royals, especially since he hit 27 home runs in 2023 and 15 in 2024. However, so far, Thomas has picked up where he left off from in 2025, and has an ugly .200 average with no deep shots.

Nick Castellanos, San Diego Padres: After the Philadelphia Phillies released the former superstar, Castellanos has proven the Phils mostly right. He has hit just .146 with no homers and has been downright awful.

Overall, people should know that home runs aren’t the top way of scoring in baseball. However, they are the most quick and efficient way of scoring, and not having one can hurt a team badly. These guys, expect maybe for the last, are probably going to slug one out eventually, but it will be interesting tell then.
