Here are three underdogs that can pull off upsets on the week eight NFL slate.
Three Underdogs Who Can Pull Off Upsets In Week 8
Pittsburgh Steelers
Green Bay Packers (-3.5) at Pittsburgh Steelers (+3.5)
The Aaron Rodgers revenge game will be in full effect in Pittsburgh on Sunday when his former team, the Packers, comes to visit. The Steelers are home underdogs and are coming off a tough Thursday night football loss to the Cincinnati Bengals last week.
The Packers are 4-1-1 right now, but they are far from playing like one of the best teams in the league. Last week, it took a late fourth-quarter effort to get past the Cardinals, a team that is 2-5, and the week before that, GB struggled with the Bengals, who were starting Joe Flacco in his first game. Right now, Rodgers has been playing some of his best football after throwing for six touchdowns and two interceptions in his last two games.
Mike Tomlin has also been one of the best coaches in the league as a home underdog.
Dallas Cowboys
Dallas Cowboys (+3.5) at Denver Broncos (-3.5)
The Cowboys will take their scorching hot offense on the road to Denver. There is an argument that Dak Prescott is playing like the best quarterback in the league right now, and the numbers bear that out. Prescott is second in the NFL with 1,881 passing yards and second in the NFL with 16 passing touchdowns, all while completing 71.4% of his throws.
Dallas is third in the NFL, averaging slightly over 30 points per game, sitting at 31.7, and even though the Broncos have a tough defense, Prescott and the Cowboys’ offense have proved capable of putting up points on any team. Last week, it took the Broncos a historic comeback in the fourth quarter Sunday to keep from getting upset by the New York Giants.
If the Cowboys could get solid play out of their defense like they did on Sunday in a blowout win against the Commanders, the Cowboys have a great chance at an upset against the Broncos.
Chicago Bears
Chicago Bears (+6.5) at Baltimore Ravens (-6.5)
The Bears are in the midst of a current three-game winning streak, and they can get a signature win under their belt by going to Baltimore and taking down the Ravens. Baltimore is 1-5 and is coming off their bye week, and with current questions surrounding Lamar Jackson‘s health, it leaves the Bears a possibility for an upset. The Ravens defense has been struggling, so whether Jackson is back under center or not, the Bears are equipped as an offense to go toe-to-toe with Jackson and the Ravens if the game turns into a shootout.
Running back D’Andre Swift has put together two back-to-back great games on the ground, rushing for over 100 yards in each game. As a team, the Bears have rushed for 346 yards in their last two games. Baltimore has been one of the worst teams at stopping the run this season, allowing opponents to rush for 134.3 yards per game, which is in the bottom tenth in the league.
If Caleb Williams can continue to improve as the quarterback of Ben Johnson’s offense, the Bears have what it takes to upset the Ravens and potentially put their season on ice.
