With the NBA season underway, the much-waited excitement and anticipation is here among the fans and even the players. No one knows just what to expect this season especially with all the movement that took place in the offseason. With a few games out of the way here are some teams who have all the tools to win the NBA championship.
Who Has What It Takes to Win the NBA Championship?
Los Angeles Lakers (5-1)
The Los Angeles Lakers have just what it takes to win the NBA championship and hold up the beautiful championship trophy in June. No, I’m not just saying that because I so happen to be a Lakers fan. I’m saying this because I feel like with the Lakers going out and acquiring Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans to team up with a motivated and hungry Lebron James, they will have the star power to combat a lot of other teams in the league. The Lakers tackled much-needed issues this offseason.
Three-point shooting was a key issue being that this league is centered around the three-point shot. The Lakers shooting only 33.3% for the year last season wasn’t going to cut it. Bringing in guys like Troy Daniels who shot 38.1% from the three, Quinn Cook (40.5%) and Danny Green (45.5%) will help tremendously. Not to mention the fact that by bringing in Frank Vogel a solid defensive-minded coach. He will boost the Laker’s defense to new levels. A predicted boosted defense, a deeper roster, three-point shooting addressed. Two of the top 10 players in the league in Lebron James and Anthony Davis, you are sure to make it pretty far.
Los Angeles Clippers (5-2)
Though it may pain me to say this, the Los Angeles Clippers do on paper appear to have exactly what it takes to win the championship this season. By winning out in the much anticipated Kawhi Leonard sweepstakes and teaming him up with Paul George the clippers put themselves right in the driver seat. The Clippers were able to push the Golden State Warriors to five games last year without Leonard or George. Bringing everyone back and adding two of the best two-way players in the NBA to the team. The Clippers have been given new energy and new life this season and are showing it with a solid 5-2 start to the season.
The Clippers already had a solid defensive presence that was made sure to be sewn into the DNA of this team thanks to head coach Doc Rivers. With the defense expected to be as suffocating as ever and the Clippers confidence through the roof, it will be a scary sight for the rest of the NBA.
Philadelphia 76ers (5-0)
I think it’s only fair that I mention some eastern conference teams, don’t you? Well, the Philadelphia 76ers are one of those teams in my mind. I feel they have what it takes to win the NBA championship. The 76ers may have lost out on Jimmy Butler coming back, but by bringing in Al Horford to play alongside Joel Embiid in the frontcourt that is a huge addition. A huge amount of focus is going to be point on the young Ben Simmons this season especially. It has been hinted and talked about that he has been working on his jump-shot and three-point shot. Something that many have been screaming at him to do. Adding the young wing player Josh Richardson is no run of the mill pick up either. A solid defender and a good shooter as well shooting 41.2% last season he will definitely be a key addition.
Another question mark for this young 76er team is going to be the health and maturity of allstar Embiid. Though we may love his “trolling” on twitter and his in-game and post-game antics, many are now looking at the young center to get his head in the game and dominate similar to what a young Shaquille O’ Neal used to do back in the day. If all those pieces come together and the 76ers can build off what they did last season, I see no reason why they can’t win it all.
Milwaukee Bucks (4-2)
Now, who would I be if I didn’t mention the Milwaukee Bucks and the reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmop? The bucks didn’t make too much noise this offseason. The additions of Kyle Korver, Wesley Matthews, and Robin Lopez to play alongside his brother Brook Lopez address the need for more shooting and better rim protection. The Bucks really didn’t need to do much in the offseason. They did finish with the best record in the east. A few more playoff wins and they would’ve been in the finals
The main reason why I place the bucks on this list is because of Giannis. The sheer will, determination, and domination of one man the one we call “The Greek Freak”. Giannis is not only the reigning MVP but has retooled and added to his game. Many thought Giannis to be unstoppable. Having him add a consistent jump-shot and three-point shot would make him invincible. He’s done just that by working out with Korver a top three-point specialist. Giannis has grown and developed a jump shot so it seems. Giannis has the determination that reminds me scarcely of Kobe Bryant. Pair that up with a solid roster and all-star in Khris Middleton there is no reason why this team can’t go all the way.
Be On The Lookout
The season has started and many teams have gotten off to a hot start including the Miami Heat (5-1), San Antonio Spurs (4-2), And the Denver Nuggets (4-2) to name a few. This is gearing up to being one of the most competitive seasons we have had yet. The championship is up for grabs as it stands. I’m still fairly confident in the teams I have picked that have the best chance to win it all. You are more than welcome after reading this article to agree with me. Or you can come up with your own conclusions. One thing is for certain pay very close attention this season is going to be a wild one.
