Patrick Mahomes II Leads Chiefs to Victory Over Jaguars

Jaguars talk that talk, Chiefs walk that walk in rout of Jacksonville. Today’s rout of the Jacksonville Jaguars reminds me of the famous quote from the movie Good Will Hunting, “How do you like them apples?” All week long the Jaguars defenders trash talked the Chiefs offense through the media and in press conferences. Cornerback Jalen Ramsey referred to wide receiver Tyreek Hill as a ‘return specialist’ and linebacker Telvin Smith laughed throughout his press conference saying, “ask me after the game what is so funny, ask me after the game.” Well, after today’s destruction of Jacksonville, “Hey Jaguars, how do you like them apples?”

Kansas City Chiefs Dominate the Jacksonville Jaguars 30-14

Reporters asked Telvin Smith after the game what was so funny and he refused to answer that today. As for the highly anticipated matchup of all-pro corner Jalen Ramsey and one of the league’s best wide receivers Tyreek Hill, Ramsey kept Hill relatively tamed down throughout the game but Hill eventually burned Ramsey down the left sideline for 36 yards. Hill finished the day with four receptions for 61 yards. The Jacksonville Jaguars talked that talk but did not walk that walk in Kansas City.

Mahomes Continues to Shine

Patrick Mahomes II did not have the sexy box score in today’s game (22/38 for 313 yards and two interceptions and a quarterback rating of 72.7) but he played really well even with his two interceptions. Mahomes kept his poise while picking apart Jacksonville’s number one rated passing defense. With Kansas City’s win today, the top scoring offenses have won the past 6 of 7 matchups versus the top defenses. The Chiefs drove up and down the field all game long against the stout Jacksonville defense. Andy Reid called a really well-designed game in his playcalling and Mahomes proved again that this hot start is no fluke.

The Chiefs kept fairly quiet throughout the week and let their play speak for itself. Things did get chippy throughout the game and Kansas City had two players ejected. Kareem Hunt and Telvin Smith got into it and after the game, reports said that Smith went after Sammy Watkins.

The Jaguars should stop trash talking teams and instead trash their quarterback instead. Blake Bortles was really bad today and had four interceptions. He did throw for 430 yards but most of that was with the game well in hand. The final score was 30-14 and really was not even that close. The Chiefs dominated Jacksonville by bullying the bully.

Chiefs Head to New England In Week Six

The Chiefs are now 5-0 heading into next Sunday night’s showdown with the New England Patriots. Kansas City destroyed New England week one in 2017 42-27. The Chiefs typically play the Patriots well. The Chiefs are rolling on offense led by superstar second-year quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes gets another chance to prove his doubters wrong in New England. Each week the goalposts are moved further back by the naysayers and each week he keeps checking off those boxes. Two weeks ago, it was that ‘Mahomes has not faced a defense like Denver’s.’ Patrick Mahomes led a 10 point fourth quarter comeback on Monday night, snapping Denver’s 65 win streak when leading by double digits in the fourth quarter. This week the talk was ‘Mahomes plays the league’s best defense, so lets see if he can beat them.’ That box was checked after today’s win by the score of 30-14.
