Jerome Robinson Propels Agua Caliente Clippers to Victory Over Northern Arizona Suns

It was a slow start for Jerome Robinson and the Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario, California. They were missing most of their shot attempts in the first quarter. Despite the Agua Caliente Clippers one point lead, the Northern Arizona Suns seemed to have come out with more intensity.

Jerome Robinson propelled the Agua Caliente Clippers to victory recording 25 points and three assists

Robinson was one of seven players in double-figures for the Agua Caliente Clippers. He had a near flawless game missing only one free throw and three pointer. Robinson was nine of thirteen from the field. Furthermore, he was on the court for the second most minutes and he made his minutes count.

In the second quarter the game stayed close with both teams scoring 27 points. It looked like both teams were scrambling around instead of running plays on both sides of the ball. At halftime the Clippers held onto a one point lead. Before halftime, Angel Delgado made a basket that ignited the Ontario crowd.

After halftime the Clippers came out with a higher intensity. Yet, both teams were missing shots and scoring was stagnant until about the five minute mark. At the end of the third quarter is when Ontario started to pull away.

Clippers expand lead off of third quarter buzzer beater

During the quarter Ontario used their lateral quickness to counter the Suns man to man defense. Furthermore, Ontario was setting double-screens bringing their defender to perimeter and opening up the lanes for the back court to drive to the lane and score.

For Ontario it looked as if they were playing a one-two zone at the perimeter and man in the front court. Desi Rodriguez made a critical basket that not only sparked the crowd but the team as well. At the third quarter buzzer, Ontario made a basket to go up twelve, the largest lead of the game through three quarters.

Johnathan Motley and Angel Delgado difference makers for the Agua Caliente Clippers

Johnathan Motley was involved in all the hustle plays. He was constantly moving with or without the ball. The way he showed a sense of urgency on the court is how you can tell he wanted to win this game. Also, he recorded twenty-one points and eight rebounds.

Motley was one of the key players in the teams victory. Additionally, Angel Delgado recorded a double-double with 22 rebounds and 14 points. Furthermore, Anthony Bennett, Jamel Artis, Manu Lecomte, and Desi Rodriguez were the other Clippers who scored in double digits.

Ontario had less field goal attempts (80 to 98), yet still won the game. This is because they were able to make it to the charity stripe twice as much. They went nineteen of twenty-six from the line. Furthermore, they made about all their three-pointers. They went fifteen of thirty-four from downtown.

Additionally, the Clippers out-rebounded the Suns 56-45 and posted 23 assists. From the field they went 37 of 80. Ontario was able to earn the victory by securing the defensive rebounds. These defensive rebounds led to fast-breaks and rhythm jumpers for the Clippers. Despite having a lead of twenty at one point; Ontario was dominated by the Suns in the paint 45-40.

Last Word

The Clippers converting their three pointers, getting to the free throw line, and crashing the glass is what lead them to victory. In conclusion, Jerome Robinson and the entire team played team ball as shown by their assists.

Lastly, Ontario was cold to start the game and they finished the game firing on all cylinders.
