Giancarlo Stanton Returning to MVP Form

Giancarlo Stanton struggled with a slow start to the 2018 MLB season, often hearing boo birds in the Bronx. However, the former National League MVP is finally returning to his old self and adjusting to the American League. It only took 40 games for Stanton to do so.

Stanton’s 2018 Production Through 40 Games

Against the Oakland A’s on Sunday, Stanton batted 4-for-4 with three runs batted in. Through these 40 games, Stanton has 252 BA, .855 OPS, 10 HRs, 26 RBI. Stanton and Teammates A Part of Yankee and Baseball History

By hitting his 10th home run on Sunday, Stanton joins a quartet of Yankee teammates to hit at least 10 home runs each in the team’s first 40 games. These teammates include Aaron Judge (11), Didi Gregorius and Gary Sanchez. This is a first in Yankee history and a feat that hasn’t been accomplished since the Texas Rangers in 2003.

The NY Yankees So Far

At 28-12, the Yankees are tied with the Boston Red Sox for first place in the American League East. The rivals are also tied for the best overall record in baseball. New York just endured a  tremendous stretch of great baseball. They came from behind multiple times during a thrilling nine game winning streak. Despite the streak being snapped, the 2018 Yankees joined an exclusive group having won 17 of 18 games.
