Miami Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton has announced that he will indeed participate in this year’s upcoming 2017 T-Mobile Home Run Derby during the all-star weekend festivities. Stanton will be looking to defend his crown after putting on a show last year, hitting a record 61 homers in Petco Park.

What will make this year’s derby so special for Stanton, is that it will take place in his team, the Miami Marlins, home ball park SunTrust Park.
Stanton talked to reporters on what it will feel like to participate in this event in SunTrust. “Man, it’s going to be so much fun. I’m really looking forward to it. The home crowd. The home city. All week is going to be good. I’m just looking forward to it. It’s going to be fun.”
Stanton is looking to be the second player since 2000 to win back-to-back titles. The first player to do so was Yoenis Cespedes back in 2013 and 2014.
This will be Stanton’s third derby of his career. He put on a thing of beauty in both of his first two performances, now it’s time to see what he has in store for round three.
