Five Storylines to Watch in Super Bowl LII

One week from Sunday, the 2018 NFL season will come to an end. However, not before the biggest game of them all will be played. The New England Patriots will be taking on the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LII. Here are five storylines to watch for during the big game.

Five Super Bowl Storylines

1 It’s All About the Money

Super Bowl Sunday is easily the biggest day and sporting event of the year for gamblers not just at casinos but also on betting sites like betstar. Most people have some sort of money on this game wether you’re betting on the score, the coin toss, or even the length of Pink’s national anthem.

If you aren’t a fan of the two teams competing in Super Bowl LII, all you can do is pray your numbers hit! For a good amount of the East Coast, Super Bowl LII will surely be all about the numbers.

2 Tom Terrific

Tom Brady is the GOAT, he has already locked himself in as the greatest quarterback of all-time. Another Super Bowl victory here, a sixth for his career, would only prove that point even further.

Brady is 27-9 over his playoff career, and is 5-2 in the Super Bowl. After the come from behind wins in Super Bowl VI last year and last weeks AFC Championship over the elite Jacksonville defense, there is nothing you shouldn’t expect from Brady in Super Bowl LII.

3 Nick Foles Cinderella Story

After Carson Wentz went down with a torn ACL, everyone said the Eagles Super Bowl chances went out the window. However, since then Nick Foles has been the savior, and one of the most unexpected Cinderella stories of the NFL. Foles is 2-1 with five touchdowns and two interceptions, and has completed 56% of his passes since the injury.

In the NFC Championship game against the top-ranked Vikings defense, Foles threw for three touchdowns and 352 yards while completing 79% of his passes. Foles proved he has what it takes for the Eagles to take home their first Super Bowl in Super Bowl LII.

4 Rob Gronkowski’s Health

The focus and main point of the Patriots offense, Rob Gronkowski, was forced to miss the second half of the AFC Championship game after being placed in the concussion protocol. The protocol finally played it’s purpose, as it kept the clearly woozy tight-end off the field.

I’m expecting Gronk to be able to return healthy, despite being on the injury report two weeks away from the big game. If not, the Eagles will be able to game plan around not having the big playmaking tight-end on the field.

5 Big Dog vs Under Dog

The Eagles have carried this “underdog mentality” with them since Wentz tore his ACL. We’ve even seen players and fans wear dog masks in the stands and on the field after the NFC Championship victory. Philadelphia is also looking to secure their first Super Bowl in franchise history.

The Patriots on the other hand, are looking for their fifth championship, in their tenth appearance. Doug Peterson and Nick Foles vs Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. Buckle up, Super Bowl LII is going to be a good one.
