NFL Draft Trade Candidates

Five Players Who Could Get Traded During The 2025 NFL Draft

Every year during the NFL Draft, players are traded. If a team takes a player in the draft at a certain position, their current starter or second-string player might be expendable. Players could also request trades once they see a team draft a player at their position, so some movement should be expected during the 2025 NFL draft. Here are five players who could be traded during the draft.

Five Players Who Could Get Traded During The 2025 NFL Draft

WR Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins

Tyreek Hill has been the subject of trade talks for the last two weeks. Hill has been on social media reacting to posts from fans or blogs who have entertained the thought of trading him, and it has caused quite a stir in the NFL world. The Miami Dolphins have made no indications that they would trade the speedy receiver; however, after a frustrating end to the season, Hill spoke candidly to the media, saying he may need to find an opportunity elsewhere to win.

Hill would be entering his fourth season with the Dolphins. In 2024, Hill endured one of his worst seasons as a pro. After four straight seasons of at least 1,200 receiving yards, Hill finished with 959 yards, which is the lowest total of his career playing a full season’s worth of games. With Hill’s comments to end the season plus his social media antics, it could be enough for the Dolphins to send the tenth-year speedster elsewhere.

There are also off the field issues that could result in Hill being shipped elsewhere.

TE Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons

Kyle Pitts will be entering the final year of his rookie contract this season. Pitts was taken fourth overall in the 2021 draft, and after a promising rookie season, he has yet to live up to his draft pedigree fully. Injuries and inconsistency have plagued Pitts so far in his career; however, his potential remains through the roof.

In 2024, Pitts finished with 47 catches for 602 yards and four touchdowns, and there have been no significant extension talks with Pitts. The Falcons know they will likely get calls on him draft weekend if teams miss their draft targets. Atlanta could choose to trade Pitts now instead of letting him walk for nothing in the offseason, or they could just let Pitts play out his final season and franchise tag him. Either way, Pitts will be a player teams call about during the draft weekend.

Edge Micah Parsons, Dallas Cowboys

Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys are in the middle of contract negotiations, and things have been rocky between the two, to put it lightly. During the end of last season, Dallas acknowledged Parsons was due for a record-setting contract but floated out the idea that they could possibly entertain trading him rather than pay him because of the already large contracts on their roster from players such as CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott.

Recently, at the NFL league meetings, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told the media he wanted to negotiate with Parsons directly and not deal with his agent, David Mulugheta. Jones even slighted Mulugheta, saying ‘he didn’t know his name.” Whether from the Cowboys or elsewhere, Parsons will get a record-setting extension, and if the team offers the Cowboys a Godfather offer for Parsons, maybe the Cowboys will part ways.

RB Breece Hall, New York Jets

During the league meetings in Florida, New York Jets coach Aaron Glen spoke to the media about the running back room. His vision was to have a running back by committee room, which wouldn’t just feature Hall but feature the likes of Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis. The news comes as a surprise because Hall has been the workhouse back for the Jets since being drafted in 2022. With his impending free agency lingering after the 2025 season, the Jets could look to trade Hall during the draft and draft his replacement in what looks to be a loaded running back class

EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux, New York Giants

Kayvon Thibodeaux was drafted fifth overall in 2022 and was expected to be the next great edge player for the New York Giants, but Thibodeaux has been everything but that so far. Thibodeaux had a strong 2023 season, finishing with 11.5 sacks; however, in his 2022 and 2024 seasons combined, he had 9.5 sacks. Thibodeaux has been disappointing relative to his draft status, and that could make him expendable during the 2025 draft.

The Giants currently hold the third overall pick, which is expected to be the range top defensive end prospect Abdul Carter will go. Many have considered Carter to be the best player in the draft. If he falls to the Giants at three and they decide to take him, Thibodeaux will be the odd man out, with Brian Burns handling the other defensive end spot for the Giants.
