On May 9, 2025, Jasson Dominguez had a standout performance with the New York Yankees, delivering his best game in the Major Leagues. In a game against the Athletics, Dominguez hit two home runs and a sac fly RBI by his 4th at bat. Then, in the 8th inning, he returns to the plate with the bases loaded and blasts his third home run of the night. It was an out-of-this-world night for The Martian, and he did something the great Micky Mantel never pulled off.
This marked his first multi-home run game, including his first home run batting right-handed. His performance was highlighted across various platforms, with posts on X noting the +3500 odds for his two-homer game, underscoring the significance of the night for the 22-year-old outfielder nicknamed “The Martian.”

The Martian and The Mick
Micky is known for his ambidextrous power. He was no stranger to right-handed homers or multiple-homer games. Yet, through his storied career, he never accomplished the out-of-this-world feat the young Martian did last night.
The Mick holds the record for three-homer games at four, but none of Mantle’s four three-home-run games (May 13, 1955; July 4, 1958; July 23, 1960; September 1, 1961) included home runs from both sides of the plate. In each case, he hit all three home runs from one side (most often left-handed, given the prevalence of right-handed pitchers).
He played ten games in which he hit two homers, one on each side of the plate.
Dominguez had a historic night for the Yankees against the Athletics at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento. He hit **three home runs**, including a grand slam in the eighth inning, driving in a career-high **seven RBIs** in a 10-2 Yankees victory.
– **First HR**: A solo shot in the third inning off Osvaldo Bido (left-handed).

– **Second HR**: Another solo shot in the seventh inning off Hogan Harris (right-handed), marking his first career homer batting right-handed.
– **Third HR**: A grand slam in the eighth inning off Elvis Alvarado, crushing a 97.6 mph sinker to right-center field.
Jasson D vs Joe D, a New Yankee Clipper
It’s even more impressive, given his young age. At 22 years and 91 days old, Dominguez became the **youngest Yankee ever** to hit three home runs in a single game, surpassing Joe DiMaggio’s record set in 1937 (22 years, 200 days). He went 3-for-4 at the plate, also adding a sacrifice fly, and was the first Yankee since Aaron Hicks in 2018 to homer from both sides of the plate in a game that included a grand slam.
His performance was widely celebrated, with teammates like Aaron Judge and manager Aaron Boone praising his talent and gritty at-bats. This breakout game boosted his season stats to a .250 batting average, five home runs, and 19 RBIs over 108 at-bats.
What about Juan?
We discussed how the Yankees replaced Juan Soto with the young prodigy a few days ago. As soon as this article was published, Soto went on a tear, going 5 in his last 10 ABs with three HR, four Runs, five BB and five RBIs. It is like he read what we posted and got offended, only to have Dominguez catch the wind and up the stakes. The battle between these is getting intense. It’s going to be a smoking-hot summer in New York.
