Dinger Tuesday: Preview and Best Bets for June 4th

Everyone loves dingers. The only thing more fun is winning money from them, and that is what our best bets will do today while utilizing FanDuel‘s Dinger Tuesday promo. Let’s take a look at the MLB hitters poised to hit home runs today and to put some cash in our bankrolls.

Dinger Tuesday: Preview and Best Bets for June 4th

Best Bet #1) Cody Bellinger (+400)

There is some rain in the forecast, so there is a chance a mid-game postponement could hurt our opportunities for dingers, but this is great value for Cody Bellinger. The lefty has smashed right-handed pitching this year despite posting a .228 average, clocking a 113 wRC+ behind a .463 slugging percentage that ranks top-50 among qualified hitters. Bellinger checks all the boxes of a home run candidate, as he hits the ball hard (30% hard contact vs just 17% soft contact) and in the air (57.6% fly ball rate vs just 29.3% ground ball rate), and gets a good matchup today against a middling right-handed pitcher in a solid ballpark/conditions for home runs as long as the rain holds off.

Best Bet #2) Aaron Judge (+190)

Sometimes, the simple answer is the right answer. Aaron Judge leads the league in home runs and is averaging one in every three games. He has been even better as of late, hitting 12 in his last 20 games, averaging over one every two games. Now he comes home to a good park for dingers after a day off, in a good matchup, after not hitting a home run in his last game. Not much more needs to be said to be convinced to give Judge a chance to go yard today.

Best Bet #3) Vinnie Pasquantino (+450)

Another great play at the current number is Kansas City Royals slugger Vinnie Pasquantino. The left-handed slugger gets a great matchup today against Triston McKenzie, a right-hander who grades poorly in almost every category. Pasquantino, batting third in the lineup, should see plenty of good pitchers today hitting after slugger Bobby Witt Jr. and before Salvador Perez, while also showing the batted ball profile we are looking for of high fly ball and hard hit rates.

Best Bet #4) Alec Bohm (+520)

Alec Bohm is another great target for Dinger Tuesday. He has been on track to hit one one as of late based on hitting five “Air 100s” in his last five games, being batted ball events of either fly ball or line drives with 100+ mph exit velocity. For comparison, of the 22 players with five or more “Air 100s” in the last five games, only four of them haven’t hit a home run in that span and 16 of them have two or more. He also gets a great matchup for at least his first at-bat or two when he gets southpaw Jared Koenig, who will serve as the opener. Bohm has smashed LHP this year, registering almost a 40% hard-hit rate and 42.4% fly ball rate.

Best Bet #5) Lane Thomas (+450)

Speaking of Air 100s and due for a dinger; enter Lane Thomas, who also has five of them in his last five games without registering a home run. The Washington Nationals outfielder had a slow start to the year but has picked it up recently, registering a whopping 53.3% hard-hit rate in May. With his numbers coming around, this is a great spot against LHP David Peterson, as Thomas thrived against lefties in 2023 and ended with a 153 wRC+ again.
