Danny Dimes

Destinations for “Danny Dimes”

Sometimes, a change in scenery can be what an NFL player needs to revive their career under the bright lights. The now-ex-New York Giants signal-caller, Daniel Jones, is just one of many going through the same relocation process. But which team best suits his playing style versus who has more to get him is up for debate. As his rocky tenure with the G-Men comes to a close, Jones will have his sights set on where to begin the next chapter.

Here are a few places that could benefit from having Jones on the depth chart.

Where Could Daniel Jones Land?

Any NFC West Team

The NFC West is in a close race, without a clear winner pulling away from the rest of the pack. The division boasts impactful quarterbacks like San Francisco’s Brock Purdy, Seattle’s Geno Smith, LA Rams’ Matthew Stafford, and Arizona’s Kyler Murray. But what would happen to their respective teams if any one of these players got injured? Having Jones join any of these team’s quarterback rooms would provide a key option for emergencies.

If “Danny Dimes” can learn from the so-called “quarterback whisperers”, like Sean McVay or Kyle Shanahan, Jones could gain some much-needed second winds for his career.

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens have arguably the scariest backfield of any current offense, headlined by Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry. But the only signal caller on the active roster besides Jackson is 38-year-old journeyman, Josh Johnson. Now, adding Jones to that room could prove to be beneficial if anything happens to both quarterbacks. In John Harbaugh’s system, Jones can improve his dual-threat abilities and learn how to decrease the amount of turnovers he creates, much like Jackson has.

If their division rivals, Pittsburgh, can solve their quarterback issues without having to sacrifice much, then Baltimore should be able to do the same.

New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints have been prepping up for its’ “post-Dennis Allen” era since they won’t be going very far sitting at 4-7. Derek Carr turns 34 next March, and Taysom Hill has been more of a utility knife than a pure quarterback. If Daniel Jones arrives in the Big Easy, he will be competing against the likes of Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener. The quarterback room isn’t much to write home about sans Carr. But offensive coordinator, Klint Kubiak, may be able to utilize Jones’ talents to spark the Saints’ offense in time.

Hopefully, the future changes in staff will have the drive to get the Saints back into fighting form like they were at the beginning of 2024.

Miami Dolphins

In a similar manner to Jackson and the Ravens, the difference in production between when Tua Tagovailoa is on the field for Miami and when he’s not is night and day. Also, the backups to Tagovailoa are not very promising options, either. It could be that coach, Mike McDaniel, may be the answer Jones might be looking for, given what McDaniel was able to do for Tua. It may sound farfetched to say that the Dolphins would consider entertaining the idea of recruiting Jones. But if McDaniel can turn Tua’s into a Pro-Bowl caliber field general, who knows what he can do for Danny Dimes.

Not to mention that Tua’s history of injuries could force Miami’s hand sooner rather than later.
