College football is just getting better, with a crazy Week 4 and now week five ahead. There is no stopping a team from making a run and shocking the college football world. With several teams that were ranked but then just fell. Teams making statements with crazy wins, or crushing their opponent.
Heading into Week 5, college football just keeps getting better, with games getting more important, and every game carrying greater value for a possible run for the playoffs. Here are the College football power rankings heading into the weekend.
College Football Power Rankings – Week 5
1. Georgia Bulldogs
The Georgia Bulldogs had their worst performance on offense against the Oklahoma Sooners. But the Bulldogs still had a great game, with a 41-13 dominant win. This was thanks to a great defense that also managed to get a scoop and score.
2. Texas Longhorns
Texas remains No. 1 in the AP Poll, but I’m putting Georgia at No. 1 in my power rankings after another dominant performance. There are definitely concerns about Texas; having close games is definitely not great, because later you will likely take a loss. Texas does have a very difficult schedule ahead, and let’s not forget they did beat Ohio State 24-23. I would like to see Texas look better down the road.
3. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Notre Dame still stands undefeated. Most people would say Notre Dame has had an easy schedule, but Notre Dame has played three Big Ten teams, which is arguably the best conference in football. Notre Dame has continued to dominate as they seek to get back into the playoff.
4. Ohio State Buckeyes
Ohio State bounced back in Week 4, taking down unranked Illinois 42-19. The Buckeyes looked strong on both sides of the ball, and that gained them momentum heading into a tough matchup against No.14 Iowa Hawkeyes. The Buckeyes definitely look like national title contenders.
5. Miami Hurricanes
Miami got another great win, defeating Central Michigan 52-3. The Hurricanes have dominated the regular season so far, and they stand undefeated and No.4 in the country. The Hurricanes will face their first major challenge against a hard opponent. Miami visits Clemson on Saturday. But as it stands now, the Canes are yet to face a challenge.
6. Indiana Hoosiers
The Indiana Hoosiers have been decent this season so far, but not as great as last year. Josh Hoover has done just fine, but is not as good as Fernando Mendoza was for this team. The Hoosiers’ running game is definitely not as great as last year, and the defense could do much better. The Hoosiers have an easy win this week against Rutgers.
7. Alabama Crimson Tide
Alabama is continuing its strong season, with a blowout win against South Carolina, 49-18. The Alabama offense performed very well throughout the game, and their defense did great. Alabama heads on the road to face No.16 Mississippi State next, where they face their toughest challenge yet.
8. Florida Gators
The Florida Gators made a statement last week, blowing out Ole Miss 52-28. The Victory pushed the Gators into the top ten. Florida has done an excellent job this season, being undefeated at 4-0. The Florida Gators take on the Missouri Tigers next, a potential challenge that can really solidify them as national title contenders.
9. Oregon Ducks
The Oregon Ducks made a statement with their win over No.18 USC, beating them 41-17 on the road. Oregon is preparing itself for a difficult week ahead. The Ducks have played well on both sides of the ball, and they have shown they can compete with ranked opponents. After the bye week, Oregon faces the undefeated No. 23 UCLA Bruins in Week 6, and then hosts the undefeated Nebraska Cornhuskers. In other words, it will be tested soon.
10. LSU Tigers
LSU had one of the best performances last week against Texas A&M, defeating them 35-6. The Tigers controlled the game on both sides of the ball very well, and it was a very impressive win. LSU heads into Week 5 with momentum. LSU plays McNeese State, a chance for them to improve their stats and tune up for their tough schedule ahead.
