With the conclusion of the regular season peeking around the corner, several NFL teams have moved on from 2024 with the hopes of a brighter 2025. This field of teams boasts varying degrees of coaching competence, as well as the willingness to collect weapons for the current or future quarterback. Any signal caller can strike gold whether they’re coming from early draft rounds or from seemingly out of nowhere, but not every team is best suited to build around a quarterback.
Here are the teams best suited for a quarterback to succeed in 2025.
Quarterback Friendly Teams For Next Season
Los Angeles Rams
The NFC West has become hostile territory with no clear team running away with the division. But coach Sean McVay and the Rams have put the league on notice with a 44-42 victory over the Buffalo Bills. Matthew Stafford has shown to be an “Iron Man” of football time and time again. But at age 36, his days on the gridiron are not infinite. Not to mention the rest of the quarterback room, namely Stetson Bennett and Jimmy Garoppolo, is not much to write home about.
This will be a great opportunity for a new face to not only learn from Stafford and McVay, but also take advantage of an arsenal that includes Puka Nacua, Cooper Kupp, and Kyren Williams.
Atlanta Falcons
With the impending departure of Kirk Cousins, the quarterback competition has opened up significantly. Michael Penix Jr. has just started his professional tenure, and his only competition is practice squad member, Nathan Peterman. Once again, the Falcons have an impactful offensive core, led by Drake London, Tyler Allgeier, Bijan Robinson, and Kyle Pitts. But they don’t have an established quarterback to depend on at the moment.
More changes will need to be made in Atlanta if they want the league to put respect back in their name. Whether it’s in the front office or the coaching staff, the Falcons cannot continue to waste the talents of their players like this.
Miami Dolphins
Needless to say, the Dolphins have not performed to expectations this season, sitting at 6-8. With Tua Tagovailoa off the field, the breakneck-pace offense falters. Plus, Skylar Thompson and Tyler Huntley have not done well in getting this team up to speed. It is best for the Dolphins to clean out that quarterback room, minus Tua, and reload with fresh faces from either the upcoming draft or free agency. It should not be hard to find, but the search has to be executed with precision and promptness.
Coach Mike McDaniel is one of the more prolific “quarterback whispers” in the current league. But even he’s not immune from the hot seat. He will need to train Tagovailoa’s successor in the case of another injury before Miami’s front office decides that it’s time to find McDaniel’s successor.
Indianapolis Colts
As much as it hurts one to say this, the Anthony Richardson experiment is not really working in Indianapolis. If one gets benched for a nearly 40-year-old veteran, there is a lot to unpack for not just the position, but the team’s approach as a whole. Joe Flacco is doing everything he can to keep the Colts’ season afloat. But with Richardson and Sam Ehlinger in the quarterback room, Indianapolis will not be getting very far. The AFC South is wide open for Houston and Indianapolis to take. But the Colts will need to get their act together if they want to reassert their dominance over the division.
Coach Shane Steichen can only do so much with what he’s got. For those who say it’s time to clean out the Colts’ quarterback room, an argument can be made.
