The college football season continues to fly by, and the NFL enters Week 7 as we start to identify contenders and pretenders when making our weekly wagers.
With playoff dreams and big payouts on the line, here are my two top picks for the week. You know the drill one from college and one from NFL.
Betting the Best: One Game to Win Big in CFB Week 8 & NFL Week 7
First Bet
Preview: #12 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (6-0) @ Duke Blue Devils (4-2)
Date & Time: Saturday, October 18, 2025, 12:00 PM EST
Location: Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium, NC
Broadcast: ESPN
Spread: Duke -1.5
This is the biggest game so far for both Georgia Tech and Duke in ACC play. Georgia Tech remains undefeated and has realistic hopes of making the College Football Playoff. Duke comes in as winners of three straight by significant margins.
Duke’s Darian Mensah is lighting up the ACC with 15 touchdowns, and the Blue Devils are perfect against the spread as slim favorites. With a top-20 offense, this could be the moment Duke hands Georgia Tech its first defeat.
Mensah, performing as a top ACC quarterback, had two weeks to prepare after a bye. The Blue Devils will be ready for their biggest test so far. Earlier this season, Mensah learned from a tough loss at home against the Illinois Fighting Illini, where late mistakes cost him.
He will learn from this and should have a breakout game against a Yellow Jackets defense that has been susceptible to the pass. He is also completing his passes at a staggering rate, nearly 70 percent, and is on pace to have a career year.
The Duke defense has shown they can deliver a relentless pass rush and force turnovers to create a short field for their offense. The Blue Devils’ defense will be up for the challenge against Heisman candidate quarterback Haynes King, who is able to run but is limited at times when passing.
Notes
- Duke has a 3-1 record against the spread this season when favored by 1.5 points or more.
- The Yellow Jackets’ record against the spread is 4-2-0.
Betting Pick: Duke -1.5
Second Bet
Preview: Green Bay Packers (3-1-1) @ Arizona Cardinals (2-4)
Date & Time: Sunday, October 20, 2025, 4:25 PM EST
Location: State Farm Stadium, Glendale, AZ
Broadcast: NFL Sunday Ticket
Spread: Green Bay -6.5
The Green Bay Packers come into week 7 of the season at 3-1-1 after a lackluster win against the Cincinnati Bengals last week. As for the Arizona Cardinals, they enter this game losers of four in a row, including three on last-second field goals. The seat is getting warmer each week for Head Coach Jonathan Gannon, who is now becoming another name on the list of potential firings.
However, the Cardinals showed fight last week against the Indianapolis Colts after a solid performance from backup Jacoby Brissett. Some could argue Arizona should’ve won the game after a no-call against Trey McBride on a crucial 4th down play in what looked like pass interference from the defense in the endzone.
Still, this Cardinals team is showing fight each week and has been within one possession in every single game so far this season. Kyler Murray is expected to return as well and has something to prove to the franchise regarding whether or not to keep him as QB one in Arizona. A win against a Super Bowl contender in Green Bay could go a long way in helping his case.
Since week 3, the Packers have shown nothing but inconsistent play. Losing to the Cleveland Browns, tying with the Dallas Cowboys, and looking sluggish off a bye against the Bengals last week. Now they’re expected on the road to cover a 6.5-point spread? I think this number should be within four points. The Micah Parsons trade hasn’t shown much impact so far this season, and I expect Arizona to be able to move the ball against Green Bay. Too many points here giving the Cardinals the cover.
Betting Pick: Arizona +6.5
Notes
- The Packers are 2-3 against the spread this season.
- The Cardinals are 3-3 against the spread this season.
- The Packers are 0-2 against the spread on the road this season.
- The Cardinals are 0-3 against the spread at home this season.
