For the fourth straight week, the Pittsburgh Steelers won’t have Joey Porter Jr. on the field. There has been so much drama between the Steelers and Porter, and if the Steelers are willing to part ways with their top cornerback, the Dallas Cowboys are one of the several teams interested in him.
According to ESPN the Detroit Lions are interested as well. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he would be willing to trade for anyone to make his team better. Jones said that this offseason, so maybe he still has the same mindset. One thing is certain, and that is that trade rumors are heating up in the NFL.

3. Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs during the offseason traded away Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for four draft picks. This meant they lost their top cornerback, but they drafted Mansoor Delane sixth overall in the 2026 draft, and in Delane’s debut game, he recorded an interception, to start off his career.
Porter has established himself as a strong physical cornerback, he would be a perfect fit for the Chiefs limiting opposing receivers and stopping plays. The Chiefs had a disappointing season last year, but they have bounced back, and are now 3-0. Starting the season with a bang defeating the Denver Broncos 31-10.
The Chiefs General Manager Brett Veach is looking to build for the future, and maybe the future to him is now. The Chiefs have a solid roster to trade for Porter, and if needed they have multiple draft picks available as well.
2. Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys spent big during the offseason, bringing in big talent from the draft and free agency. The Cowboys were very clearly trying to fix their defense which was one of the worst in the league last year. The Cowboys have not gotten off to a great start to the season so far, as they are 1-2.
Jerry Jones is known to be aggressive when trying to improve his team. The Cowboys are in need of a cornerback. The Cowboys have traded for several great players over the last couple of years, players like George Pickens, which shows that the Cowboys could make another aggressive move if needed. Porter could immediately become an important part of the Cowboys’ secondary, a secondary that Dallas could rely on to stop opposing receivers, and shut down big plays. Porter would likely start immediately, and help the Cowboys’ defense grow. Porter would be one of the best players on the defense alongside Quinnen Williams.
1. Detroit Lions
The Lions definitely need to improve the cornerback room, so a player like Porter would significantly improve their secondary. If Porter were to be traded to the Lions he would clearly be their top cornerback.
Porter could shut down receivers like Chris Olave, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Justin Jefferson. The Lions allowed over 400 passing yards by the New Orleans Saints, so a corner like Porter could definitely help. The Lions could definitely improve their cornerback room significantly, and it would be a great idea to bring in a cornerback like Porter.
The way the Lions are playing they are definitely not sniffing a playoff run at this moment, but if they could improve that defense, things could change.
