Nebraska fans potentially broke a Paycom Center record for decibals

New decibel record in March Madness proves Nebraska fans are the best in the country

According to FanDuel, a new decibal record was recorded at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City when Nebraska fans celebrated during the Huskers 74-72 win over the Vanderbilt Commodores last Saturday. Nebraska already knew that the game was essentially a home matchup for them after the game against the Troy Trojans was insanely packed on Thursday. Although not official, Nebraska may have broken a decibel record in Paycom Center, the home of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Paycom Center Hits 115 DB As Nebraska Fans Take Over Arena.

The game against Vanderbilt for Nebraska may have been the best game so far in the tournament. After jumping out to an early 8-0 lead, the game never got any farther than that. Nebraska took a 8-point lead two more times later in the game, but the Commodores kept it close the whole game. Finally, late in the 2nd half, the Commodores took lead, eventually going up by 4 points before Nebraska tied the game late. At one point, Nebraska brought the decibel rating to 115, which supposedly breaks the record in the Paycom Center.

This means that Nebraska may have very well set the noise record in two games after OKC has played hundreds of games their, including a Game 7 of a NBA Championship. Such fans are truly insane and a thing to respect for all sports fans.

Nebraska Football Fans Having an Affect on March Madness

Pretty much the whole country knows that Nebraska is the best team in the country when it comes to devoted fans. Nebraska’s steak of sellouts, which is still ongoing and is at 410 games is truly insane. Nebraska has also had over a decade of irrelevance in college football. Matt Rhule has brought Nebraska back into the bowl conversion, but the Huskers have been 7-6 in the last two seasons. However, that doesn’t mean the fans can’t be huge.

Against the Colorado Buffaloes in 2024, Nebraska’s fans almost single-handedly defeated Colorado 28-10 in an insane atmosphere. Even in 2025, against the USC Trojans, Nebraska fans showed up massively. Nebraska is now trying to get the job done in March, as the basketball team rolls into the Sweet 16. Nebraska football fans now know that the basketball team needs all the help they can get, and by showing up the way they did, they massively help.

It’s genuinely funny to think that many fans really don’t know much about basketball, but started watching it and decided to make a ton of noise against Vanderbilt. Such a crowd is sometimes the driving force behind a big win, and perhaps Nebraska can continue to stack them in March Madness.
