It’s week 3 for college football and week 2 for the NFL. We’ve learned a bit about each team, but early-season betting still raises questions for this week’s betting betting picks.
I have two picks this week: one NFL, one college. Let’s get started and aim for a profit.
This Week’s Best CFB and NFL Bets
First Best Bet
Date & Time: Saturday, September 13, 2025, 3:30 PM EST
Location: Neyland Stadium, Knoxville, TN
Broadcast: ABC
Current Line: Georgia -3.5
This will be the first real test for both teams. This game will also make Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton’s first career road start. In two games, Stockton has thrown for 417 yards and two scores and also notched a pair of rushing touchdowns this season. The overall series favors the Bulldogs as they come in winners of eight straight against the Volunteers in the series.
This matchup is a chance for Stockton to prove he can make plays in the passing game under pressure. If Tennessee shuts down Georgia’s rushing attack, the focus shifts to whether Stockton can deliver through the air—a key uncertainty.
As for Tennessee, they come in hot to Rocky Top, taking care of business in their first two games against Syracuse and East Tennessee State by wide margins. Quarterback Joey Aguilar already looks like an upgrade at the position after Nico Iamaleava transferred to UCLA.
Aguilar looks comfortable, and the team will be ready to go, according to head coach Josh Heupel.
“Obviously, we know the test that we have in front of us, facing a really good Georgia football team,” Heupel said. “It’s a great weekend, opportunity for GameDay to be here on the biggest stage in college football.”
Another factor will be Tennessee’s defense. That side of the ball for the Volunteers can get after the quarterback, and they will have to on Saturday since it’s been announced that the Volunteers will be without their two starting corners.
Pick: Tennessee +3.5
This line opened at -7 in favor of Georgia and has shot all the way down to 3.5. There’s a reason for it, and those on the Tennessee side believe the moment will be too big for Stockton and the Bulldogs.
Overall, too many question marks on Georgia’s offense to back them in this spot. Tennessee’s defense will create turnovers and shorter fields to make Aguilar more comfortable against a tough Georgia defense. Neyland Stadium will be chaotic as Tennessee looks to climb into the top 10 and try to get back to the playoff for the second year in a row.
Second Best Bet
Preview:Buffalo Bills (1-0) at New York Jets (0-1)
Date & Time: Sunday, September 14, 2025, 1:00 PM EST
Location: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ
Broadcast: Sunday Ticket
Current Line: Bills -6.5
The Buffalo Bills come in 1-0 after an unbelievable comeback against the Baltimore Ravens in week 1, winning 41-40. As for the New York Jets, they come in off a hard-fought loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers at home. Josh Allen is known to struggle against the Jets at MetLife, going 1-2 in his last three matchups on the road against the division rival.
Allen looks the most comfortable a quarterback can appear in the pocket throughout the entire league. However, the Jets’ defensive line will look to change that after Aaron Rodgers diced them up for four touchdowns in Week 1. The Bills’ offense can score, but can they get stops when needed most?
The biggest surprise for the Jets was how efficient the offense looked under Justin Fields in his first start for Gang Green. The former Chicago Bears quarterback looked comfortable and was able to move the chains through the air and on the ground.
Pick: New York Jets +6.5
Yes, I am going with another home underdog here, but in a divisional game, I believe the Jets have enough to keep this game within a touchdown. After a last second win by the Bills, I think energy will be lacking in the early stages of this one for Buffalo and will allow the Jets to jump on them early. The Bills’ defense shouldn’t scare Fields at all after they were carved up by Baltimore last week. Fields and Breece Hall should help the offense be efficient again this week. Buffalo may win in the late stages, but will not cover the number here, thus leading us to take the home dog in this spot.
