5 Bold Predictions for the 2025 MLB Season

Spring Training games are underway and that means the regular season isn’t too far behind. Predicting what will happen around the MLB is always fun heading into a season but it’s even better when they’re bold predictions. There are a lot of intriguing storylines going into 2025, making the landscape of the league exciting and unpredictable. As we head towards Opening Day, let’s take a look at what could be in store for this year’s campaign.

MLB Bold Predictions For 2025

First-Time MVP Winners in AL and NL

Aaron Judge has taken home the AL MVP in two of the last three seasons while Shohei Ohtani has taken home an MVP in three of the last four seasons. Both were winners last season and have taken the awards for years now but in 2025, that won’t be the case. In fact, we’ll see first-time winners for both the NL and AL.

Those players will be rising star Bobby Witt Jr. of the Kansas City Royals and a newly signed Juan Soto for the New York Mets. If it wasn’t for another power-hitting season from Judge in 2024, Witt would’ve already won his first MVP and Soto finished top three in voting twice but has never won. Those two facts will change in 2025.

Braves Get Back to Another 100-win Season

In 2022 and 2023, the Atlanta Braves won over 100 games and were serious World Series contenders after winning it all in 2021. Last season, they won just 89 games but dealt with injury after injury, including missing star players in Spencer Strider and Ronald Acuna Jr. They will be back sooner rather than later once the season starts and they have an All-Star cast around the diamond that includes Matt Olsen, Ozzie Albies, and Sean Murphy while signing Jurickson Profar this offseason. On the mound behind Strider, the Braves have 2024 Cy Young Award winner Chris Sale and Reynaldo Lopez. Barring another injury-riddled season for the Braves, they’ll get back to their winning ways — and Las Vegas agrees. Most betting sites have them right behind the Dodgers to win the National League. With some bettors taking advantage of odds as high as +550 (and as low as +450), others would rather spend their money at online casinos like https://lasatlantis.com/litecoin-casino.

Mike Trout Will Play 130+ games for the First Time Since 2019

I hate that this is among the bold predictions but Mike Trout playing 130+ games again would be great and exciting for baseball and I think he does it. He suffered yet another injury in 2024 (torn meniscus) that ended his season early after playing only a career-low 29 games. The three seasons prior, he played 83 games, 119 games, and 36 games.

Coming into this season, Trout vows to do everything he can to stay on the field as he gets older and that includes moving from center field to right field. This move will hopefully, in his words, “limit overall beat down and wear and tear.” Due to his position change and self-awareness, I think we will see Trout play 130+ games in 2025 for the first time since 2019 when he played 134 games.

Boston Returns to the Postseason

The Boston Red Sox made moves this off-season to try and return to the postseason for the first time since 2021. They bolstered their rotation with the additions of Garrett Crochet and Walker Buehler to go along with rotation depth with Lucas Giolito and Patrick Sandoval. Boston also added to their bullpen with Aroldis Chapman. They didn’t stop there as they added Alex Bregman to their lineup. The Red Sox went 81-81 last season and these additions will return them to the postseason.

Blue Jays Trade One of Bo Bichette or Vladimir Guerrero Jr. At the Trade Deadline

Toronto finished last place in the AL East with a record of 74-88 and it wouldn’t be surprising if they finish at the bottom again in 2025 with a great AL East. There’s a possibility that they can turn things around but if they don’t, they could move a big piece or two at the trade deadline and that could be either Bo Bichette or Vladimir Guerrero Jr., both of which have expiring contracts and haven’t reached a deal with the Blue Jays. This is one of many bold predictions would shake up the baseball world. Bichette might be more likely to move but Vlad isn’t out of the question if things go south quickly.
