We have now reached the end of the first half of the Major League Baseball season, here are the current National League home run leaders.
1 Jesus Aguilar, MIL – 24 HR’s
Jesus Aguilar is enjoying a breakout season at the plate, he has hit 22 home runs in 54 games since May.
2 Bryce Harper, WAS – 23 HR’s
Harper is having a down year in the average department, however he has certainly made up for it with some light tower power.
2 Nolan Arenado, COL – 23 HR’s
Arenado is an MVP candidate every year. He is putting together another excellent season, and this may be the year he finally take the trophy home.
3 Max Muncy, LAD – 22 HR’s
Muncy has broke onto the scene in a huge way in 2018, crushing 22 home runs out of nowhere in the first half.
4 Paul Goldschmidt, ARI – 21 HR’s
Goldy had a bit of a down first-half, but he has bounced back and picked things up of late.
5 Trevor Story, COL – 20 HR’s
The Rockies second year shortstop has no shortage of power. It certainly helps that he plays all of his home games in Coors Field as well.
5 Ozzie Albies, ATL – 20 HR’s
The Braves rookie has made a strong case for Rookie of the Year. Had he not been injured for about a month, we could see a much higher number than the 20 he has hit.
8 Eugenio Suarez, CIN – 19 HR’s
In his fifth year in the league, Suarez has finally shown his full potential. He has always had the power, but now he is combining it with the average as well. Suarez is just 26, and is looking like he is only going to get better.
8 Charlie Blackmon, COL – 19 HR’s
Blackmon is one of the top hitters in the game today. He combines both power and average at the plate.
8 Javier Baez, CHC – 19 HR’s
Javy Baez has also been enjoined a breakout MVP-type year. He is a free swinger, and can certainly put a jolt into some baseballs.
8 Christian Villanueva, SD – 19 HR’s
Villanueva has broken onto the scene with the Padres this year. He is going to be a big piece of the rapid Pares rebuild.
8 Matt Carpenter, STL – 19 HR’s
Carpenter had a bit of a rough start to the season, but was able to put together decent numbers at the All-Star break.
