2018 NBA Finals Game 2: Stephen Curry Has Record Breaking Night

Stephen Curry had a spectacular performance from distance. He scored 33 points and made nine three pointers, which is an NBA Finals record for most threes made in a game.

Curry led the Warriors to a 122-103 Game 2 victory to take a 2-0 series lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Curry was dancing around the Cavs’ defense and made some unbelievable shots that few players in the league would take. It shows that he can get his shot off at any time no matter what the circumstance is.

Here are all nine three pointers explained.

1st Three

With 4:05 remaining in the first quarter, Kevin Durant did a short dribble handoff to Curry on the right wing and swished it in from long range.

2nd Three

At 6:13 left in the first half, Curry gets the pick set by Draymond Green on Kevin Love and knocks down the three from the left wing.

3rd Three

Curry dribbles up the court against George Hill. JaVale McGee sets the pick for him and hits the three at the 2:05 mark in the second quarter.

4th Three

With 1:05 left in the first half, Steph grabs a rebound off a George Hill and raced down the court. After six dribbles, he makes his fourth three over JR Smith’s contest.

5th Three

At 10:44 in the fourth quarter, Larry Nance Jr is switched up on him. He gives him two crossovers and makes a stepback three.

6th Three

He brings the ball up the court with Nance guarding him again and passed to Green on the right wing. Then, he gets the ball back from Draymond in the corner. Curry pump faked, took one dribble and swished it in with 10:11 left in the game.

7th Three

At the 7:54 of the fourth quarter, Steph took a low pass from Green in the paint. He dribbled to the left wing, took a couple of dribbles and launched it from downtown and it went in at the shot clock buzzer over Kevin Love. This was arguably the shot of the game.

8th Three

Draymond Green finds him in the corner again and knocked it down while he got fouled by Kevin Love. He made the free throw to complete the four point play at 5:44 left at regulation.

9th Three

Then with 3:32 left, Curry takes eight dribbles between his legs and makes his final three point shot of the game. That set the new NBA Finals record for the most threes in a game.

Curry’s Thoughts

Curry explains the meaning of being mentioned with the greatest three point shooters of all time. “It means a lot. As I’ve gone through my career, being blessed to play. Reggie (Miller) and Ray Allen, the two names that always pop up at the top of all the three point shooting list. It’s pretty special.”

It’s performances like this is why he’s considered the greatest shooter of all time. If he plays lights out for the remainder of the series, he could win his first ever NBA Finals MVP award.
