I was watching the NFL Network’s top 100 players list and wanted to comprise a list embracing the past season. Instead of the Top 100 players in the league, I wanted to make a list of the top 100 players this past season. A list where pro bowl snubs get their shine. Players who missed large portions of the season such as Aaron Rodgers, David Johnson, and Odell Beckham Jr won’t be included on this list. This is my top 100 players of the 2017-18 NFL season.
Top 100 Players of the 2017-18 NFL Season: Players 100-91
100. Delanie Walker TE, Tennessee Titans
Walker has been one of the most consistent Tight Ends over the past five seasons. He upgraded his reception and receiving yard totals from the past season. He had his lowest number of touchdowns since 2012 which keeps him from ascending past the number one-hundred spot. Walker will most likely continue to be a top target for Marcus Mariota in 2018-19.
99. Thomas Davis LB, Carolina Panthers
Davis had an impressive fifty-two tackles and two and a half sacks this season on his way to his third straight pro bowl. Thomas and his linebacker teammate Luke Kuechly teamed up to be one of the league’s most dominant linebacking duos for yet another year. Davis will serve a four-game suspension to start the 2018-19 season, but Davis will return to dominate yet again for Carolina.
98. Cameron Wake DE, Miami Dolphins
Wake is as dominant as you can get with a pass rusher. He has had seven sacks or more in each of his last eight seasons. This season, he posted ten and a half sacks along with twenty-six tackles. Wake missed the pro bowl this season, but this is only because Bosa, Campbell, and Mack all had even more impressive seasons. Wake has been a bright spot for Miami for almost a decade and next season should be no different.
97. Trumaine Johnson CB, New York Jets
Johnson may be a member of the New York Jets, but he made this list when playing for the Rams. He has played extremely well over the last three seasons capping it off this past season. Johnson posted two interceptions, thirteen passes defended, and fifty-seven tackles. This allowed him to cash out in free agency signing a five year seventy-two million dollar contract with the Jets.
96. Rodney Hudson C, Oakland Raiders
Hudson has been an anchor for the Raiders offensive line for as long as he’s been a Raider. He didn’t allow a sack for the third consecutive season this year and made the pro bowl. Hudson has been a big part of the Raiders having one of the top-rated offensive lines in the entire league.
95. Jurrell Casey DT, Tennessee Titans
Casey is the second Titan in this section of the list and the first defensive tackle. Casey had six sacks and forty-one tackles this season and made the pro bowl. He dominates the inside and doesn’t allow opposing running backs very much room inside.
94. Nigel Bradham LB, Philadelphia Eagles
Bradham has been a solid player for the Eagles in his two seasons. This season, his sixty-one tackles helped lead the Eagles to the Super Bowl. He had eleven tackles in his three playoff games with four coming in the Super Bowl. His skills in pass coverage make him a special talent that the Eagles made sure to lock up in free agency this off-season.
93. Alex Mack C, Atlanta Falcons
Mack was great for the Falcons this season. He only allowed one sack this season and helped Devonta Freeman to another eleven-hundred yards from scrimmage. Mack made the pro bowl as a starter and will lead the Falcons’ offensive line for years to come.
92. Kendall Fuller CB, Kansas City Chiefs
Fuller was traded to the Chiefs in the Alex Smith deal but made this list as a Washington Redskin. Fuller was among the best slot cornerbacks this past season. Kendall had four interceptions and forty-two tackles this season to go with ten passes defended.
91. Joey Bosa DE, Los Angeles Chargers
Bosa finishes off this portion of the list with stats that show just how many players ad outstanding seasons this year. Bosa ranks in the nineties but has a very strong resume from this past season. He recorded twelve and a half sacks and forced four fumbles which led to his first pro bowl appearance. At only twenty-two years old, Bosa will be much higher on these lists in the years to come.
