NHL Hart Trophy Finalists

The NHL Hart Trophy is awarded to the player who is found to be the most valuable to their team. The Professional Hockey Writers’ Association votes on this award at the need of the regular season. Monday afternoon, the finalists for the 2017 season were announced.

3 Sergei Bobrovsky, G, CBJ

Bobrovsky has played a huge part in the Blue Jackets turnaround this season. In 63 games, he had a record of 41-17-5. He led the league with a 2.06 goals-against average (GAA), a .931 save percentage. His 41 wins were good enough to be second in the league. His seven shutouts were the second best in the league.

2 Connor McDavid, C, EDM

Connor McDavid is very good at hockey. He led the league by a large margin with 100 points. He recorded 30 goals and 70 assists, and was a +27. At 20-years old, he captained the Oilers to their first playoff run in a long time. He averaged a league-leading 1.22 points per game over a full season. McDavid is easily the most valuable player on the Oilers.

1 Sidney Crosby, C, PIT

Crosby missed time to begin the season with a concussion, but still scored a league leading 44 goals this season, winning the Rocket Richard Award. He had 45 assists for a total of 89 points, and averaged 1.19 points per game, second in the league only to McDavid. Crosby has played a huge role in the Penguins pursuit for a second consecutive Stanley Cup. He is still one of the top two-way centers in the league.
