Favorites to Win the American League Home Run Race

With Opening Day just under a week away, here are my favorites to lead the American League in home runs during the 2017 season.

Favorites to Win the American League Home Run Race

5. Brian Dozier, MIN

Dozier is the best power hitting second baseman in the league. Last season he hit a career high 42 home runs. Dozier may get traded during this season, however that won’t effect his power as he will continue to rake.

4. Gary Sanchez, NYY

Sanchez broke onto the scene last season and displayed some raw power. In 201 at-bats he hit 20 home runs and worked his way up to second in AL Rookie of the year voting. Sanchez has had a decent camp thus far, hitting 4 home runs. The righty will continue to display his raw power in that “bam box” called Yankee Stadium next season.

3. Khris Davis, OAK

Khris Davis is the biggest bat in the Oakland lineup. Since he came into the league in 2013 with the Brewers, he has hit 102 home runs. Last season he took his power to a new level as he finished third in the league with 42 home runs. At only 29 years old, Davis will continue to provide his raw power in Oakland.

2. Nelson Cruz, SEA

Cruz is one of the premier power hitters in the game today. Even at 36 years old he is still getting it done as he hit 43 long balls last season, second best to Trumbo. The past three seasons he has hit a combined 127 home runs.

1. Mark Trumbo, BAL

Trumbo led the whole entire league with a career high 47 home runs last season. He remains with the Orioles in the hitter friendly Camden Yards, and will display his 50 home run potential this season.
