5-Star QBs Who Have Disappointed So Far

Coming into seasons, there are always QBs that are expected to be great. Just like all other sports, however, some players disappoint massively. This season, there have been players who just aren’t getting it done. Here are five quarterbacks who have disappointed more than anyone this season.

Disappointing College Football 5-Star QBs in 2025

Arch Manning: 57.2 QBR, 888 Pass Yards, 132 Rush Yards, 9 TD, 3 INT

Arch Manning hasn’t been among the nation’s worst QBs to begin the season. However, his expectations have proven to be a lot so far. His total QBR ranks 72nd in the country, and the Texas Longhorns have struggled to do much offensively this season. Manning can turn on at any time this season, but for now, he has disappointed massively. According to the Longhorns, the team itself has work to do.

Drew Allar: 48.4 QBR, 763 Pass Yards, 86 Rush Yards, 6 TD, 2 INT

Talk about a disappointment. Drew Allar was one of the best QBs in the country coming into the season, but he has disappointed. Penn State very well could have won its game against the Oregon Ducks; however, the offense, led by Allar, failed them massively. Allar only passed for 137 yards en route to a 30-24 double OT loss. A better performance from Allar could’ve changed the game. However, as has been the case in the past, Penn State and its quarterback have disappointed. Drew Allar needs to turn it around, and quickly.

Cade Klubnik: 45 QBR, 996 Pass Yards, 94 Rush Yards, 6 TD, 4 INT

Of all the teams in the country, none, and I mean NONE of the top teams have been as disappointing as the so far 1-3 Clemson Tigers. The Tigers were ranked as the No. 4 team in the nation before losing 3 out of their first 4. Not to mention, the Tigers were lucky to barely win the Troy Trojans 27-16. The offense, led by the so far very mediocre Cade Klubnik, has been dead, scoring 10, 27, 21, and 21 points in their first 4 games. The returning talent of the Tigers has meant nothing, while the team has floundered offensively and defensively. The former 5-star QB hasn’t done much to help the dire situation in Death Valley.

Nico Iamaleava: 54 QBR, 788 Pass Yards, 252 Rush Yards, 4 TD, 3 INT

Nico Iamaleava has regretted immensely leaving the Tennessee Volunteers. The UCLA Bruins are so far 0-4, losing to Utah, UNLV, New Mexico, and now, Northwestern. Unfortunately, 3 of the four teams are among the worst in the FBS. Iamaleava certainly shouldn’t take all of the blame. The defense has been lackluster, as well as the offense. However, through the first 4 games, Iamaleava has only 5 touchdowns in both the air and on the ground. This has been nothing compared to what he is capable of. Now, a potential 0-12 season lies in front of them. UCLA is in major trouble of being one of the worst teams in the country.

DJ Lagway: 46.9 QBR, 690 Pass Yards, 68 Rush Yards, 5 TD, 6 INT

The former No. 1 QB recruit, DJ Lagway, has so far lagged his way through the first 4 games of the season. Lagway has thrown more interceptions than touchdowns, looked inefficient, been a bad playmaker, and more. The defense of the Florida Gators has been great, allowing an average of just 16 points per game. However, the Gators in their last 3 have scored just 16, 10, and 7 points. Under Lagway, Florida has done nothing good. The blame cannot go solely on the offense, however, most of it does.

QB’s are at times the cornerstones of teams’ success. This season, it hasn’t really been different. Unfortunately for these teams, their QBs have been quite awful compared to other teams. In order to compete, or even get to a bowl game, the efficiency of these QBs must go up.
