As Week 7 approaches, there are some exciting games to watch. Week after week, there have been numerous upsets and games that have surprised everyone. This week will be no different. Here are some matchups that will be awesome to watch in Week 7.
Best Week 7 Matchups to Watch in College Football
Â
Texas Vs. No. 6 Oklahoma, 3:30 ABC
In this game, it is clear that the Texas Longhorns‘ season is on the line. After falling to 3-2 and being unranked, this matchup could revive the Texas team. Arch Manning will have to face an outstanding defense while the Longhorns hope to get the ground game going. Oklahoma, meanwhile, is 5-0 with a couple of big wins. The one flaw has been their offense, which has been largely mediocre. The good thing, though, is that the defense has destroyed almost every team they have faced, with so far the best defense in YPG. In this matchup, there is a lot on the line.
No. 7 Indiana At. No. 3 Oregon, 3:30 CBS
The No. 7 Indiana Hoosiers want to compete for the BIG Ten, and they have some impressive victories to show that. However, some teams still stand in their way, including the Oregon Ducks. With the defeat of Penn State on the road, Oregon’s number one threat is now Ohio State, likely followed by Indiana. This matchup has significant playoff implications and, of course, BIG Ten implications. After Illinois, it is clear that Indiana can compete, but just one week later, a five-point win over the Iowa Hawkeyes revealed several flaws. Oregon is the team to beat right now as well.
No. 1 Ohio State At. No. 17 Illinois, 12:00 ET FOX
Ohio State has looked pretty shaky this season so far, as they haven’t looked very good on the offensive side of the ball. The problem for Illinois though is that OSU has looked unstoppable on defense. With a win in Illinois, it may even be their most impressive win of the season. For Illinois, this spells redemption after being murdered 63-10 as the No. 9 team in the nation. The offense has looked good, but they haven’t quite seen such a defense. While the defense of Illinois is probably going to be tested as well. OSU has shown they can lose, but have also shown they can dominate. Can Illinois take advantage?
No. 8 Alabama At. No. 14 Missouri, 12:00 ET ABC
This matchup is one that got ugly last season, with No. 21 Mizzou losing 34-0 at the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Tide has also rebounded beautifully after starting 0-1. However, the Tide were lucky to defeat the Georgia Bulldogs, while Vanderbilt also could’ve easily been a loss with two big turnovers. That being said, Mizzou didn’t have Ahmad Hardy, who has rushed for over 700 this season already. The Tigers are also being led by Beau Pribula, who has looked way better in Missouri so far this season.
Not to mention, Missouri so far has the second-best defense in YPG, so in other words, Missouri has changed big time. Alabama themselves are led by excellent Ty Simpson and an effective passing attack. Nonetheless, with much on the line, Mizzou will put the Tide on upset alert this week.
No. 15 Michigan At. USC, 7:30 ET NBC
Michigan has looked pretty shaky so far this season. So far, the Wolverines lost to Oklahoma, beaten Nebraska by three, and looked bad against an awful Wisconsin Badger team. The reality is the offense has looked really bad, solely surviving off the ground game. Against the Huskers, the Wolverines won thanks to three long rush TDs, otherwise, Bryce Underwood looked pretty bad (to be fair, every QB has against Nebraska).
Against Wisconsin, though, it was thoroughly unimpressive. USC has a must-win game here. The offense can survive, but that’s not the issue. The defense must finally stand for itself against the Wolverines.
Overall, week 7 should be exciting. These matchups have some major implications for conferences, seasons, and more. Some of these matchups could very well show the college football world that certain teams are better than others.
