The 2024 Los Angeles Dodgers finally broke through and became the World Champions once again after a billion-dollar offseason, signing Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Teoscar Hernandez and many more key pieces during the 23-24 offseason.
During the 24-25 off-season, the Los Angeles Dodgers spent close to half a billion dollars, and they signed Blake Snell, Teoscar Hernandez, Roki Sasaki (IFA), Tanner Scott, Hye-Seoung Kim, Kirby Yates, and Michael Conforto. Plus, they extended Tommy Edman’s contract by 5 years!
According to FanDuel, the Dodgers’ O/U win total has been set at 104.5. With how the team is shaping up this season, I believe that they will hit the over—not by much, but they’ll hit the over for sure.
2025 Los Angeles Dodgers O/U: Why the Dodgers Will Hit The Over
Starting with Shohei Ohtani. When you have someone like him, you already know that he’s going to provide big time for your team. Last year, he achieved a 50/50 season, which is record-breaking and extremely hard to do, and he was MVP. He didn’t even pitch last year, and he still won the award. This year, Ohtani was expected to return to the mound by Opening Day, but now, that’s been pushed back to May, and we don’t even know if it’ll happen at that time. All we know right now is that he’s not facing hitters until the Tokyo Series.
Next, you have Mookie Betts, who provides everywhere on the field. He’s back at shortstop, and he’s kind of clicking defensively. Mookie is going to be a huge contributor this season, and if the Dodgers really want to hit the over, Mookie’s going to have to produce. On the batting side of things, it’s going to be the same for Freddie Freeman, and as long as he plays defense like he does, things are going to be rock solid.
Max Muncy is going to have an amazing role this season, driving in runners with that long-ball. We could see him traded mid-season, though, so be ready for that. Gavin Lux isn’t at 2nd base anymore. It’s the new Hye-Seoung Kim. He’s going to have to adjust to MLB pitching fast, which, once again, I believe he will. Kim will be an incredible force in the infield, and as long as he gets that bat going, the Dodgers should be loaded there.
Michael Conforto is going to have a revival season in Los Angeles. Mark. My. Words. He had a .237 average with the Giants last year. Dave Roberts has already highlighted the fact that he will have a major role this season. The Dodgers are going to need a good performance out of Conforto this season. He will be another major impact.
The James Outman days are gone. These are the Tommy Edman days. Man, this has been an A+ trade. The NLCS MVP, Tommy Edman, was superb for the Dodgers when he played and has been pretty good defensively. He’s going to cover a multirange of positions: 2nd base, shortstop, and center field. Will his bat show up this season as well? The Dodgers need an average hitter, and that has to be Tommy Edman this year.
Will Smith is going to be another key factor this year. Last year, he hit a .248. He needs to show up this year.
Finally, Mr. Power, Teooooooooo, the Dodgers 1st HR Derby Champion!!!
Oh, Teoscar has got a lot of work to do. He needs to cheer up this squad all year long, make everyone smile, but also show up on the field and make awesome defensive plays, hit singles, doubles, and HRs, and be that guy.
But forget about this lineup. Let’s talk about their rotation. The Dodgers have the best rotation in the league. No ifs and buts about it. Tyler Glasnow, Roki Sasaki, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell, Dustin May, and soon-to-be Shohei Ohtani. I mean, come on, why would anyone want to face this? The Dodgers knew their bullpen was the weakest, so they went and made sure to fix it, signing Tanner Scott and Kirby Yates.
So, there you go, the Dodgers will indeed hit the over this year. I got them at 106 wins this season. Pretty cool, right?
