The PGA Championship is a little over a week away. This weekend the Tour heads from Washington D.C. to Dallas, Texas, for the 2022 AT&T Byron Nelson. Won last year by K.H. Lee, the event will be held at TPC Craig Ranch for the second season in a row. A Tom Weiskopf designed course; it is one of the easier venues of the summer. Featuring wide-open fairways and large receptive greens, look for the competitors to shoot low throughout the tournament.
Presenting a loaded field as players aim to get ready for the second major on the calendar, current world number one Scottie Scheffler joins Dustin Johnson, Justin Thomas, and Jordan Spieth. Likely to come down to who can put the best over the four days; here are my betting picks for who will come out on top.

Scottie Scheffler
Fresh off a victory at the Master’s Tournament in April, Scheffler is the hottest player on tour. He has won four of his last six starts to begin the 2022 season. Remaining one of the best players off the tee in the field, the 25-year-old is currently averaging 308 yards per drive. He is also ninth in the world in strokes gained from tee to green, with over 1.5 each round.
Returning to his home state for the first time since becoming world number one, the Dallas native possesses the short game to attack the forgiving greens at TPC Craig Ranch. Looking to get in tune for the PGA Championship at Southern Hills, expect Scheffler to be among the final groups on Sunday.
Will Zalatoris
Zalatoris has quickly begun to play better golf as the 2022 season progresses. The Wake Forest alumn has finished inside the top six in his last three events, including a tie for fourth at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. One of the best ball strikers in the field; he is 10th on tour in driving distance with 310 yards averaged off the tee.
Furthermore, the 25-year-old is also hitting more than 70 percent of his greens in regulation while also remaining inside the top 60 in scrambling. Still looking to capture the first win of his career, the key for the Texas native will be with his putter. A popular selection to capture the victory this weekend, he offers excellent value at +2200.
Sam Burns
Already a two-time winner this season, Burns was victorious at the Sanderson Farms Championship in October. In addition to this, the Shreveport Lousiana native also entered the winner’s circle at the Valspar Championship in March. He is now the tenth-ranked player in the world. The 25-year-old has made eight cuts in his last 13 starts while finishing inside the top 10 in six of them.
Fighting his control off the tee, he is just 111th on tour in driving accuracy with just 61.2 percent of fairways hit. However, the five-year veteran has made up for it with his iron play. He is currently seventh on tour in birdie average while ranking tenth in greens hit in regulation. Jordan Spieth
Finally, a winner after a slow start to his 2022 season, Speith captured the RBC Heritage in April. He shot under 70 on all four days while carding a final round 66. This helped him to defeat Patrick Cantlay in a playoff. With a proven track record on this course, the three-time major champion opened with a 63 on Thursday last year.
Still fighting his swing at points, the University of Texas alumn has improved from tee to green over last few months. He has increased his driving distance more than 15 yards from last season, leading him to rank inside the top ten on tour with 310.9 yards averaged per tee shot. Furthermore, he is also hitting fairways at a four percent increase.
Justin Thomas
Thomas is long overdue for a victory. Still searching for his first win of the season, he has come close over the last few weeks. The University of Alabama product finished sixth at the Genesis Invitational in February before placing third at the Valspar Championship and eighth at the Masters. Excelling with his irons, the Louisville, Kentucky native ranks second in approach over his last 12 rounds.
Along with this, he is hitting over 69 percent of his greens in regulation. Still struggling with his putter, he has improved his stroke throughout the 2022 season alongside his coach John Graham.
